Ramadaan Series {Day 1} – Why Do We Fast?

Allah says:

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.

[2:183]

It is clear from this Verse of the Qur’an that fasting was not prescribed to just feel hungry and thirsty, rather it was prescribed by Allah for us to attain taqwa. This means to have Allah on our minds at all times. To make Allah our concern in all our matters.

This Verse is not only to be practiced in Ramadaan but also outside Ramadaan.

This month is an excellent opportunity for us all to make small changes in our lives that can be carried through the entire year, insha’Allah.
