Anything Done for the Aakhirah Will Increase

The Prophet (saw) had a camel called al Adbaa and he would race people and beat them. Once, a Bedouin came with a young camel below six years of age and beat the Prophet (saw). The Sahaaba were affected. The Prophet (saw) said, it’s Allah’s Law that everything which rises in the dunya, Allah will bring it down.

[Bukhari]

We Learn:

When you reach your peak, you’re going to go downhill, physically or otherwise.

He (saw) mentioned anything of the dunya will go down but he didn’t say the Aakhirah! So, anything done for the Aakhirah will not go down, rather it goes up, such as a project or something left behind as a legacy!

When something is done for Allah, with sincerity, knowledge and emaan, it’ll increase.

How Should Our Lives Be Planned?

We build our day and our lives around Allah and earning His Pleasure. Not living in the dunya and when we can, we remember Allah.

Signs That A Person’s Emaan Is Decreasing

  • Sins and doesn’t feel any guilt.
  • Commits sins which he never used to do but has now started doing them.
  • Having a hard heart and no desire to read the Qur’an.
  • Feeling too lazy to do good.
  • Neglecting the Sunnah.
  • Not feeling anything when hearing Verses from the Qur’an.
  • Finding it difficult to remember Allah and making dhikr.
  • Desiring status.
  • Being concerned with whether something is haraam or halal only; and not avoiding makrooh (not recommended) things.
  • Not feeling concerned about the situation of Muslims.
  • Likes to argue just for the sake of arguing without any proof.
  • Becoming engrossed and very involved with the dunya; worldly things.

The danger of your emaan decreasing is that if you are only completing your fard obligations and your emaan takes a big hit, this could lead you to kufr.

Sincerity For The Sake of Allah Will Increase You In The Hereafter

The Prophet (saw) had a camel named Al Adbaa and he (saw) would race people and beat them. Once a Bedouin came and he had a young camel below the age of 6 years old and he beat the Prophet (saw) in a race. The Sahaaba were affected by this. The Prophet (saw) said it is Allah’s Law that everything which rises in the dunya, Allah will bring it down. (Bukhari)

We learn from this:
When you reach your peak, you’re going to go downhill, physically or otherwise.

He (saw) mentioned that anything of the dunya will go down. He didn’t say aakhirah! So anything done for the aakhirah will not go down rather it will go up. For example, a project or anything left as a legacy!

Your Good Deeds Will Lead You To Jannah

يوم نحشر المتقين الى الرحمن وفدا

Some of the ulema mention that on the Last Day, when people are resurrected, a person will greet the pious man and he will have a beautiful face and smell. The pious man will ask, who are you?  The man will reply, I am your good deeds. I rode on you in the dunya, now you will ride on me in the aakhirah. He will climb on the back of this man, who is his good deeds, and he will take him all the way to Jannah.

The scholars said people will either be walking on their faces, normally on their feet and those that never touch the ground! They are on mounts and carried from one stage of the aakhirah to the next!

So وفدا here means on mounts.

Ali (ra) said, they will be on mounts unseen, mounts covered in gold until they knock on the gates of Jannah.

May Allah make us from those that are on mounts in the aakhirah!!

Having Lofty Goals In Our Lives

What are you leaving behind when you leave this dunya? What will your legacy be? How will your rank be raised?

The first step is having a goal and finding a role model. If we’ve never thought of a legacy then we are far away from the people of the past that we claim to follow.

This is what is meant by not giving the dunya too much importance.

When have we ever read the people of the past said we want to memorise Qur’an as our lofty goal? Umar bin Abdul Aziz (ra) would say he wanted to be the leader of the Muslim ummah! And he got it.
